A leading manufacturing company with three facilities in McPherson, Kansas, including a plastics facility, a metals facility, and a distribution center. We are dedicated to delivering high-quality products while ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees and the environment. We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced EHS Manager to oversee all aspects of environmental, health, and safety across our McPherson facilities. The EHS Manager will also play a crucial role in collaborating with our corporate location in Colorado on companywide safety initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement EHS policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations as well as corporate guidelines.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of EHS Specialists, providing guidance and support to enhance their performance and ensure safety compliance throughout the organization.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and audits to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement. Implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Collaborate with facility managers and supervisors to create and maintain a safety-conscious culture, promoting best practices and fostering a proactive safety mindset among all employees.
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs to educate employees on safety protocols, emergency response procedures, and the proper handling of hazardous materials.
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of ISO 14001 and 45001 standards, ensuring adherence to these environmental and occupational health and safety management systems.
- Lead incident investigations to determine root causes, identify trends, and implement preventive measures to reduce the risk of workplace accidents and injuries.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with regulatory agencies, ensuring compliance with all required permits and reporting obligations.
- Collaborate with the corporate location in Colorado to contribute to companywide safety initiatives, sharing best practices and implementing consistent EHS standards across all locations.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and report on EHS performance metrics to senior management, keeping them informed of progress, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety or a related field is strongly suggested.
- Proven experience as an EHS Manager or a similar leadership role in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Extensive knowledge of local, state, and federal EHS regulations and standards.
- Previous experience working with ISO 14001 and 45001 standards is a plus.
- Strong background in environmental compliance and experience managing environmental programs.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills to effectively manage a team and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify potential risks and implement effective solutions.
- A proactive and results-oriented approach to continuously improve safety performance and EHS processes.
