EHS Manager

A leading manufacturing company with three facilities in McPherson, Kansas, including a plastics facility, a metals facility, and a distribution center. We are dedicated to delivering high-quality products while ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees and the environment. We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced EHS Manager to oversee all aspects of environmental, health, and safety across our McPherson facilities. The EHS Manager will also play a crucial role in collaborating with our corporate location in Colorado on companywide safety initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement EHS policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations as well as corporate guidelines.
  2. Lead, mentor, and manage a team of EHS Specialists, providing guidance and support to enhance their performance and ensure safety compliance throughout the organization.
  3. Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and audits to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement. Implement corrective actions as necessary.
  4. Collaborate with facility managers and supervisors to create and maintain a safety-conscious culture, promoting best practices and fostering a proactive safety mindset among all employees.
  5. Develop and deliver EHS training programs to educate employees on safety protocols, emergency response procedures, and the proper handling of hazardous materials.
  6. Oversee the implementation and maintenance of ISO 14001 and 45001 standards, ensuring adherence to these environmental and occupational health and safety management systems.
  7. Lead incident investigations to determine root causes, identify trends, and implement preventive measures to reduce the risk of workplace accidents and injuries.
  8. Establish and maintain strong working relationships with regulatory agencies, ensuring compliance with all required permits and reporting obligations.
  9. Collaborate with the corporate location in Colorado to contribute to companywide safety initiatives, sharing best practices and implementing consistent EHS standards across all locations.
  10. Conduct regular safety meetings and report on EHS performance metrics to senior management, keeping them informed of progress, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety or a related field is strongly suggested.
  2. Proven experience as an EHS Manager or a similar leadership role in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  3. Extensive knowledge of local, state, and federal EHS regulations and standards.
  4. Previous experience working with ISO 14001 and 45001 standards is a plus.
  5. Strong background in environmental compliance and experience managing environmental programs.
  6. Excellent leadership and communication skills to effectively manage a team and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  7. Analytical mindset with the ability to identify potential risks and implement effective solutions.
  8. A proactive and results-oriented approach to continuously improve safety performance and EHS processes.
