Manager of Continuous Improvement

Our client, a industry leading durable goods manufacturing company has opening a new facility in metro Albuquerque to support a major customer and some large contracts.
As a result, they are actively recruiting for a plant level Manager of Continuous Improvement. With guidance from corporate leadership, the CI Leader / CI Manager will create, implement, and sustain a new lean manufacturing system for the site which will grow to about 250 people over the next few years. It is a strategic and functional leadership role that will be delivered tactically (hands-on in Gemba)
Responsibilites include:
- Implement operational excellence and continuous improvement strategies that directly tie in with the site’s KPIs (measurable results and sustainment will be tied in with performance reviews)
- Lead and facilitate data-driven Kaizen events to identify constraints drive sustainable improvements and work closely with plant personnel
- Lead and facilitate events to identify and systematically reduce all forms of waste.
- Develop and execute improvement action plans with specific owners and completion dates
- Develop a Lean Culture within the facility engaging individuals from the shop floor up
- Develop tracking tools and measures to support key KPI initiatives such as increasing efficiency, throughput/capacity, and reducing shop cost per unit rates
- Develop business case justification for projects and initiatives
- Create best practices to leverage resources across all facilities better
- Provide and teach CI tools to team members
- Build a CI culture across the organization
- Assist in the development and implementation of capital projects, including equipment feasibility studies, working with key stakeholders
- Guide staffing, training, employee relations, and performance management to develop and enhance the Operations function, working closely with direct reports
This full time direct hire creative position will require lean manufacturing implementation experience in a durable goods (fabrication, welding, painting/coatings, and assembly) manufacturing experience. The ability to formulate a plan, implement the plan, and reach the hearts and minds of the employee base is needed.
