Position Summary:
Design Engineer III for a leading name in the Agricultural Market, plays a pivotal role in achieving company goals. The position involves researching, developing, and designing products, leading development teams, and ensuring profitability, ROI, inventory turnover, and accident prevention. This person will own the design creation and will work with the team to meet the needs of customers. Key competencies include change management, teamwork, communication, and business acumen.
Primary Responsibilities:
1. Prioritize safety in all job aspects and company meetings.
2. Utilize SolidWorks to design products with accuracy and structural strength.
3. Select components based on specifications, ensuring cost-effectiveness and reliability.
4. Create detailed Bill of Materials (BOM) for each part and standardize designs.
5. Conduct field testing, evaluate product performance, and make necessary engineering changes.
6. Release Engineering Change Requests (ECR) and Orders (ECO) upon product approval.
7. Assist in troubleshooting mechanical failures and source materials from vendors.
8. Oversee Technicians in prototype manufacturing and ensure product flow from design to production.
9. Perform additional duties assigned by the Supervisor.
Skill Requirements:
1. Proficiency in 3-D wireframe construction, design layouts, and assembly drawings.
2. Computer skills, including CAD software (SolidWorks) and Microsoft Office.
3. Knowledge of engineering design standards, manufacturing capabilities, and Bush Hog products.
4. Mechanical aptitude and excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
5. Ability to lead, plan, and organize work, with DFMEA and Stage Gate experience.
6. Project management skills and a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural or Mechanical Engineering.
7. 5+ years of experience in product design, preferably in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
