Purchasing Manager

Are you ready to take the helm as the maestro of purchasing operations in our vibrant Fulton, NY Plant? As the Purchasing Leader, you’ll orchestrate a symphony of procurement activities, conducting a team of Buyers and expeditors to harmonize efficiency and drive cost savings throughout our supply chain.

Major Responsibilities:

Efficiency: Oversee the strategic acquisition of raw materials, standard parts, custom components, auxiliaries, and all necessary items for facility.

Training: Provide training and coaching to your team, transforming them into skilled practitioners of purchasing processes, tools, and best practices.

Innovation: Execute projects aimed at reducing costs, composing a melodic arrangement of cost reduction initiatives to achieve our annual plan.

Talent: Conduct employee evaluations and compose development plans, fostering the growth of your team members.

Operations: Act as the key point of contact for escalated operational issues, conducting a harmonious response to late deliveries, capacity constraints, and quality concerns.

Timing: Monitor and elevate the purchasing “on-time to operation” metric, orchestrating improvements and introducing other key performance indicators (KPIs) as needed.

Inventory: Optimize inventory levels to create a delicate balance between on-time delivery and the efficiency of working capital.

Ordering: Ensure the adherence of the team to purchase order guidelines, maintaining the rhythm of authorization levels, confirmation dates, past due PO’s, and pricing.

Sourcing: Implement sourcing strategies, ensuring swift action on Change Communication forms. Support efforts to reduce lead times for specific products.

Master Data: Take responsibility for item master data integrity, ensuring ongoing maintenance and consistency with business unit requirements and supplier capabilities.

Additionally:

-Communicate and prioritize supplier needs and issues to the sourcing team, creating a harmonious relationship.

-Attend weekly and monthly production and global purchasing meetings, contributing your notes to the collective tune.

-Take direction from and collaborate closely with the site leader on production needs, creating a seamless collaboration.

Requirements:

-Minimum 8 years of procurement experience in an engineered component/manufacturing environment.

-Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in a fast-paced environment.

-Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Excel, are a must.

-Experience with ERP-based purchasing systems, creating a seamless integration of technology.

-Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, ensuring a clear and resonant message.

-Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering, a testament to your academic prowess.
