The Senior Buyer is responsible for reviewing demand and procuring parts to meet production requirements. Places purchase orders with suppliers and maintains item master data in the ERP system (including price, lead time, order quantity, safety stock). Works with Manufacturing, Engineering, Scheduling, and Shipping / Receiving to optimize the supply chain process.

Responsibilities

1. Ensures all items with demand have required information in ERP; Buyers are responsible for item master data and need to ensure it is proactively maintained.
2. Issues purchase orders to suppliers, ensures supplier commitments are provided in a timely manner and supplier capacity constraints are addressed.
3. Works with Engineering and Manufacturing to support cost reduction / part standardization initiatives.
4. Assists Expeditors, Quality and Manufacturing to resolve issues that will impact customer deliveries.
5. Participates in target costing reviews for new products.
6. Utilizes cost models to ensure pricing for new items is accurate.
7. Obtains quotes for items without cost models from approved suppliers.
8. Manages and implements engineering changes.
9. Assesses impact of engineering change and informs management, as appropriate.
10. Manages (disposition) of obsolete parts.
11. Ensures Confidentiality Agreements are executed with all suppliers.
12. Assists with and executes sourcing projects as required.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain, Business Administration or related field
• Minimum 5 years procurement experience in a low volume / high mix manufacturing environment
• Strong organizational skills
• Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills
• Highly analytical with experience in raw data interpretation
• Experience with ERP based purchasing systems
• Microsoft Office Skills including advanced Excel skills required
